In accordance to our curriculum intent we feel Geography should:
HEAD: aid development of pupils skill to think critically and participate in geographical enquiry
HEART: consider the diverse human and physical geography of Britain and the world
HANDS: allow children to engage in creative ways to ask and answer geographical questions and create their own geographical equipment such as maps
We have implemented an inclusive and diverse curriculum that aims to enable all our children to flourish and to develop key geographical skills and to apply them within their own geographical enquiry. We teach the National Curriculum, supported by practicing the geographical skills of comparing locations, researching different sources, map skills and writing and talking about physical and human geography of places. This ensures that skills and knowledge are built on year by year and sequenced appropriately to maximise learning for all children.
Formative judgements are made through observations, marking and recorded through Teacher App. Summative assessments are usually made at the end of a unit through a triangulations of observations, evidence in books and assessment tasks stated in the medium term plans.
